The "Virtual" Challenger 1P

Above is a snapshot from the (updated) Virtual Challenger 1P, a
Win32 application by Jeff Parsons that simulates an (almost) fully functional Challenger
1P. It contains a complete 6502 emulator, along with all the logic
required to simulate the C1P's 53-key software-polled keyboard, graphics
character generator, 32x32 character display, and cassette port.
The Virtual Challenger 1P application is an original work, copyright
1998-1999 by DoubleBit
Software. It is not derived from any existing 6502 emulator or
6502-based system simulator, and is being made available free of charge to all
interested parties. However, to be useful and complete, it includes
Challenger 1P ROM images (in the form of Win32 resources) that are not the work
of DoubleBit Software, including an 8K BASIC-in-ROM that is copyright 1977 by Microsoft
Co. Given the age of the ROMs and the risk of deterioration, along
with the non-profit nature of this application, we hope that all parties will
treat the aforementioned ROM images as "fair use" copies.
To run the sample BASIC program included in the above ZIP file (a version of
"HangMan"), run HANG.BAT. When the Challenger
1P Video Display window appears, press C once, Enter
twice, and then type LOAD followed by Enter.
After the BASIC program finishes loading, press the SPACEBAR, Enter,
and then type RUN followed by Enter.
