"New Home page layout" controls how the Home page looks.  The "old look" was a series of drop-down list boxes.  The "new look" is a series of links that are more "browser-like" in appearance and behavior, allowing you to browse TV listings, categories, favorites, and other lists the same way.

"Start up in 'By Time' View" determines what Pocket TV Browser displays when you start it up.  If this is checked, it will immediately display TV listings for the current time, instead of the Home page.

"Display channel descriptions" controls how the channel list is displayed.  If this is checked, channel descriptions (where available) will be displayed alongside the channel numbers and names.

"Insert partial descriptions in results" affects how Results Pages are displayed.  If this is checked, then the first line of a program's description, if any, will be displayed after each resulting program.  This gives you more information about each show on a single screen, but at the expense of readability.

"Include searches in Favorites" affects how your Favorites listing is displayed (i.e., when you tap the Star icon on the Home page).  If this is checked, then BOTH saved Programs and saved Searches will be included in the Favorites listing.  Otherwise, only saved Programs will be displayed.  You can always bring up saved searches individually, by selecting them from the Favorites list on the Home page.

"Combine categories on Home page" means that user-defined categories and pre-defined categories will be combined in the single category list on the Home page.  However, if no user-defined categories have been defined yet, then pre-defined categories are always be displayed, even if this is not checked.

"Make Calendar reminders private" will set the Sensitivity of any TV programs you've added to your Calendar as "Private" if checked.  Otherwise, the Sensitivity will be "Normal".

"Calendar category" allows you to define a Category Name that will be recorded in any events that Pocket TV Browser adds to your Calendar.  The name can be anything you like; Pocket TV Browser does not depend on it.
